A thyroid and neck ultrasound scan is a safe, non-invasive imaging tool used to evaluate the thyroid gland and surrounding structures, including lymph nodes, salivary glands, and blood vessels. Ultrasound can help your clinician assess nodules, swellings, or other abnormalities that may require further evaluation.

At Ultramsono, we also offer this scan as part of a comprehensive women’s health or fertility package, which may include pelvic, breast, and transvaginal ultrasounds for a complete assessment.

What organs are evaluated?

  • Thyroid Gland: Assessment of size, shape, and structure.

  • Salivary Glands: Detailed imaging of the submandibular, sublingual, and parotid glands.

  • Lymph Nodes: Evaluation of cervical lymph node chains for swelling or abnormalities.

Common reasons for this scan:

  • Visible or palpable lumps and swelling in the neck area.

  • Follow-up on abnormal thyroid blood test results (T3, T4, or TSH).

  • Assessment of suspected thyroid disease or goitres.

  • Investigation of blocked or painful salivary glands.

  • Monitoring of known neck nodules or abnormalities.

Preparation for your appointment:

  • Clothing: Please wear a comfortable, loose-fitting top that allows easy access to the neck.

  • Jewellery: You will be asked to remove necklaces or large earrings before the scan.

  • Medical History: No fasting is required. Please bring any previous neck scan reports or relevant surgical history to your appointment.

To secure your scan appointment at our North End Road Clinic, a non-refundable deposit of £30 is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance of £120 is payable at the clinic following your scan.

Cancellation & Fees:

48-Hour Notice: If you cancel or reschedule your appointment with less than 48 hours' notice, the deposit will not be returned.

Processing Fees: In the event of a cancellation, any transaction or administrative fees charged to Ultramsono by the card provider will be deducted from any potential refund or charged to You / The customer.
